It hangs open, and a wide rib runs the full length of both front edges, so the front holds its line instead of curling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe knit itself is thin and fine. It layers under a coat without bulk and is still comfortable indoors, which is what makes it a cardigan you keep on the back of a chair rather than in a wardrobe. The shoulder is dropped, the sleeves are long, and the body widens slightly towards the hem.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe detail is on the back, and it is put there on purpose: a square panel sits across the shoulders, worked in fine vertical columns and framed on three sides by the plain knit of the body.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is midi length – 72 cm down the back, past the hip.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEvery panel of this piece is knitted to shape on its own – fully-fashioned, never cut out of a length of knitted fabric. The panels are then hand-linked: a person feeds the open stitches onto the linking machine one loop at a time, so the seams stretch with the knit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is hand-finished – hand-steamed over a shaped pad and washed before it leaves the workshop, so it arrives at its true size and stays there. The yarn is spun in Italy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI design every piece myself, and it is knitted in a small workshop here in Lithuania – a few at a time, never off a production line.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEvery piece passes through my hands before it is packed – I check each one myself before it goes out.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt arrives in a plain brown box with the care card inside and nothing else – no filler paper, no leaflets.
