TEEROSE – an open cardigan whose detail shows from the back too

TEEROSE is an open cardigan in light pink – no buttons and no fastening. It hangs open, and a wide rib runs the full length of both front edges, so the front holds its line instead of curling.

The knit itself is thin and fine. It layers under a coat without bulk and is still comfortable indoors, which is what makes it a cardigan you keep on the back of a chair rather than in a wardrobe. The shoulder is dropped, the sleeves are long, and the body widens slightly towards the hem.

The detail is on the back, and it is put there on purpose: a square panel sits across the shoulders, worked in fine vertical columns and framed on three sides by the plain knit of the body.

It is midi length – 72 cm down the back, past the hip.

Every panel of this piece is knitted to shape on its own – fully-fashioned, never cut out of a length of knitted fabric. The panels are then hand-linked: a person feeds the open stitches onto the linking machine one loop at a time, so the seams stretch with the knit.

It is hand-finished – hand-steamed over a shaped pad and washed before it leaves the workshop, so it arrives at its true size and stays there. The yarn is spun in Italy.

I design every piece myself, and it is knitted in a small workshop here in Lithuania – a few at a time, never off a production line.

Every piece passes through my hands before it is packed – I check each one myself before it goes out.

It arrives in a plain brown box with the care card inside and nothing else – no filler paper, no leaflets. That is a choice, not a saving – I would rather use less than print something that is made to be thrown away.

CARE:
– hand wash;
– maximum washing temperature 30 °C;
– gently squeeze the excess water out of the washed garment, do not wring it;
– do not hang it wet on a hanger, as it will lose its shape;
– do not tumble dry;
– iron on the lowest setting with steam, or simply steam it.
